The Old Family Gallery

Many an old photograph has wandered away from it’s family origins. Others are in amongst our family photos, but without names to tell us who they might be.

Here is a sampling of old photographs, some with names, others with just the identity of the photographer known. If you can help us identify any of these people, please contact KARA to share what you know about the family and perchance the name of those looking back at us across the years.

This Photograph is labelled Mary Ann Condon and sisters.The girls are Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Matilda, Hannah and Margaret. They were the daughters of James Condon and Elizabeth Doris. Can you help us sort out who is who in this picture?

Here is a photograph taken by William S. Bell, who had a studio in Beaverton in the early 1900s.
The name written below the picture is J. Overend.

 

This is one of Peter’s old photos searching for a family connection. The two women are Mrs. William Wooldridge and her youngest daughter, Mrs. Russell. The daughter was Lillie Giles who married Eli Russell.

Scott & Andrus had a photograph studio in Lindsay, Ontario for some years and later were located in Toronto. This photograph was taken at the Lindsay studio, located on the corner of Kent & William Streets.

A photograph taken by A. E. Sharpe who at the time of this image, had a studio in Warkworth, Ontario. In the early 1900s, he worked in Stirling, Ontario.

A photograph taken by George Shoemaker who had a studio in Paisley, Ontario in the closing years of the 1800s and the opening years of the 1900s.

James H. Stanton, whose last name is also spelled Staunton, had a studio in Fenelon Falls, Ontario in the later years of the 1890s and early 1900s.

A photograph of Herb Guiry whose family was from Victoria County. The photographer name cannot be deciphered on this copy of the picture.

A Cart de Visite photograph believed to be the work of David Wallace who had a studio in Bellville in the 1870s, who later resided in Brantford, Ontario.
